AALO, 29 Apr: The West Siang horticulture department organised an awareness programme on the Atmanirbhar Bagwani Yojana (ANBY) here on Friday as part of the Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari (KBPH) campaign.
During the programme, which was chaired by ZPC Babom Romin, DHO Kirmar Lona apprised the participating farmers, panchayat leaders, GPCs and GPMs of the ANBY, the Prime Minister Krishi Shinchayi Yojana, integrated development of horticulture, and the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. He urged the farmers to “submit post-harvest data of horticulture products for office data record.”
District Agriculture Officer Margi Ete informed that the agriculture and horticulture schemes are time-bound, and requested the farmers to “complete the given period and practice double cropping to double their income in a year.”
As Arunachal has been declared as an organic state, using pesticides, weedicides and other chemicals must be discouraged in agriculture and horticulture fields, he said.
Stating that the agriculture and the horticulture departments are always ready to help the farmers, Lona and Ete advised the farmers to obtain civil clearance from the State Bank of India branch here to avail the benefits of the schemes.
The panchayat leaders demanded that the government introduce cultivation of citrus fruits like lime and lemon, besides mushroom, under the Atmanirbhar scheme. (DIPRO)
