NAMSAI, 7 May: The State Information Commission (SIC) organised a two-day awareness programme on the RTI Act for all stakeholders of Tirap, Changlang, Lohit, Anjaw, Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley and Namsai districts at the district secretariat here on 6 and 7 May.
Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Rinchin Dorjee, who chaired the programme, said that “RTI is a tool to achieve the true meaning of democracy, and the Act is a means to promote transparency and accountability on the part of the government.”
The CIC explained different sections of the Act, which was followed by an interaction session.
The Namsai DC, PIOs and APIOs of the districts, HoDs, GBs, panchayat members and others participated in the programme. (DIPRO)
