ITANAGAR, 11 May: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona was re-elected as chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-III for the second time on Wednesday.
The decision was taken at the joint meeting of the Executive Committee of CPA India Region Zone-III at the Speaker’s Conference Hall in Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Sona was elected as chairman of the (CPA) India Region Zone-III for the first time in January 2021 at Guwahati.
Addressing the executive meeting, Sona extended his gratitude to all the speakers of CPA India Region Zone III for reposing their trust and faith on him to lead the Association for a second time.
“I am truly humbled and honoured to be elected as the chairman of the CPA India Region (Zone-III). I accept the responsibility with humility and would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the members for reposing their faith in me and for entrusting me with the responsibilities for two more years. I look forward to working for better regional cooperation and development,” Sona said.
Stating that the objectives of the Association are to promote knowledge of the constitutional, legislative, economic, social and cultural aspects of parliamentary democracy, Sona urged upon all the speakers for their equal contribution to the Association.
The members also discussed ways and means to improve the activities of North East Region Institute of Parliamentary Studies & Research.
