YUPIA, 13 May: Rajya Sabha member Nabam Rebia flagged off ambulances and bikes for the primary health centres (PHC) in Tarasso and Mengio from the Papum Pare DC office here on Friday.
Tarasso and Mengio circles are remote outposts with communication bottlenecks existing to this day. The idea of providing the vehicles to the PHCs was conceptualised by DC Minga Sherpa.
The custom-built bikes are equipped with boxes for medical items.
Considering the low penetration of telecommunication in Tarasso and Mengio, eight sets of high-frequency walkie-talkies were also distributed to the two PHCs.
The DC also provided a bike for the Taraso CO “to deliver daks and other official works,” and a generator set for the Mengio EAC office.
Among others, DMO Dr K Perme, Mengio EAC Tana Bapu and Tarasso CO Rome Mele were present at the function. (DIPRO)
