YINGKIONG, 18 May: Along with rest of the country, International Museum Day was celebrated in Upper Siang district at the proposed tribal museum here in Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner Shashvat Saurabh informed that the tribal museum is a community owned and community funded project and that the artifacts and antiques donated voluntarily by the local people would be preserved and displayed in the museum.
He said that the museum will not only help preserve the tribal culture and heritage but also boost the tourism activities of the area.
On the occasion, various artifacts and antiques were donated to the museum by seven people. They handed over the items to the DC.
The Singa Kera AA Welfare Society of Tuting also handed over a cheque of Rs. 50000.
RIWATCH executive director Vijay Swami and ZPC Lumgeng Litin also spoke.
The programme was attended by government officials, public leaders and general public. DIPRO
