PASIGHAT, 21 May: Six drug peddlers were arrested on Friday in connection with two NDPS cases that had been registered in East Siang district, informed SP Sumit Kumar Jha.
The arrests were made during a series of raids conducted by a police team comprising SIs Aditya Chandra and Kari Pertin and Constables Kaling Perme, Mai Padung and Oterson Modi, under the supervision of the Pasighat PS OC.
A large quantity of suspected brown sugar was seized from the possession of the arrestees, in the presence of Executive Magistrate M Kakki.
“Cases under Section 21 (b) of the NDPS Act (4 arrested; seizure 20.57 gms) and Section 21 (a) of the NDPS Act (2 arrested; seizure 2.2 gms) have been registered. We could go three levels up in the supply chain in today’s investigation,” the SP said.
He further informed that eight gamblers have been arrested for playing cards with poker chips and cash. Rs 50,280 in cash, besides multiple decks of playing cards and poker chips have been seized, and a case (No 60/22) has been registered at the police station here.
The raid on the gamblers was carried out by a team comprising WPS OC Inspector NK Khen, L/HC Y Tatin, Constables Sekek Pertin and Tanlong Shungkho, and L/Ct T Rome. (DIPRO)
