EMCHI, 5 Jun: Doimukh MLA Tana Hali Tara, along with Papum Pare DC Sachin Rana, distributed fish seeds and feeds to beneficiaries during a ‘Fish seed and feeds distribution programme under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMSSY)’ at the government fish farm here on Sunday.
Interacting with the fish farmers present on the occasion, the MLA advised them to “take proper care of fish seeds distributed through PMMSY scheme for revenue generation and to become self-reliant.”
Stating that Papum Pare has “huge potential for fishery development activities,” he suggested to the fisheries department to “explore the potentials and provide technical support and capacity building to the farmers for tapping the full potentials.”
The DC urged the fisheries department to organise training programmes for the beneficiaries and others “for maintaining and managing the fish farms and taking due care from the disease spread in the fish tanks.”
Three lakh fingerlings were distributed to 106 beneficiaries during the programme. (DIPRO)
