State IRCS distributes relief

ITANAGAR, 9 Jun: Members of the state branch of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) on Thursday distributed blankets, hygiene kits and Rs 25,000, @ Rs 5,000 to each of the families of those who died in landslides that had occurred on the Ganga-Jollang road and in Yagumso Colony on 16 May.

Five persons, identified as Tai Yai, Teg Bahadur, Taposh Rai, Nagin Barman and Kusum Rai, died in the landslide in Yogumso Colony.

State IRCS honorary secretary Dr Emi Rumi interacted with the bereaved families and gave assurance that the Red Cross Society would provide humanitarian services “in case of any disaster-related issue.”

Besides Dr Rumi, the IRCS team included state IRCS disaster mitigation committee chairman Dr Riken Rina, the state IRCS’   eastern zone joint secretary Dr Annong Borang, state IRCS joint secretary (HQ and western zone) Tame Anuk, and state IRCS nodal officer (training & HR) Dr Marli Ete.
