HAPOLI, 14 Jun: The 55th edition of the Central Dree Football Tournament was kicked off on Tuesday by Lower Subansiri DC Bamin Nime at the Padi Yubbe Outdoor Stadium here.?
Addressing the players, the DC called for maintaining sportsmanship spirit throughout the tournament.
“Avenues for sportsmen have tremendously increased in the past decade,” the DC said, and added that “with dedication and perseverance, you can definitely excel in your chosen sports.”
Exhorting the players to be focused on their games, Nime asked them to stay away from drugs and other psychotropic substances.
Administering the anti-drug pledge to the players, Nime further informed that “as part of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, to be observed on 26 June, the government of India has launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Fortnight’ from 12 to 26 June.”
In the first match, in the women’s category, Zamra Football Club defeated All Hija Sports Association 1-0.
In the 2nd match, in the men’s category, Hari Sports Club defeated All Hija Sports Association 3-0.?
