SS Punglwa becomes overall champion
KOHIMA, 18 Jun: The sainik school in Punglwa in Nagaland won the overall championship trophy in the ‘East zone inter-sainik schools sports & cultural meet-2022’, which was organised at the Punglwa sainik school from 14 to 18 June.
Students of the sainik schools in Purulia (West Bengal), Goalpara (Assam), Imphal (Manipur), Punglwa (Nagaland), Chhingchip (Mizoram) and Niglok (Arunachal Pradesh) participated in the competitions.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Assam Rifles Director General Lt Gen PC Nair apprised the participants of the initiative taken by the Assam Rifles for admission of local students to sainik schools.
He exhorted the cadets to join the armed forces, and complimented Punglwa Sainik School Principal RK Yadav and the school’s staff for conducting the events.
The main attractions of the closing ceremony were cultural presentations by the participating teams and distribution of medals and trophies to the winners, the defence PRO informed in a release.
