Meeting on RI, Covid-19 vaccination held

ROING, 7 Jul: A DTFI meeting on routine immunisation (RI), Covid-19 vaccination and health & wellness centres was held under the chairmanship of Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh here on Thursday.

The DC advised the medical officers to put in extra efforts to ensure wider coverage under RI, and to “conduct more ORS to cover children who have been left out due to varied reasons.”

On Covid-19 vaccination in the district, she suggested “speeding up coverage of children in the 12-15 years and the 15-18 years age groups under the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ and the ‘Har School Dastak’ programmes.”

DMO Dr T Taki advised all the programme officers to “ensure regular and timely updating of data to reflect the work done in the district.” He also informed about bio-medical waste management “and the right practices for its disposal.”

DRCHO Dr Raju Mena informed that the RI coverage in the district is 104 percent and Covid-19 vaccination for the 18+ age group is at 85.3 percent. For the 5-18 years group, it is 68.2 percent, and for the 12-14 years group, it is 29.9 percent, he said.

Dr SJ Mitapo spoke about the TB control programme and the target for elimination of TB from the country by 2025. He also spoke about the ‘Ni-kshay Mitra’ project, “a community support for TB patients.”

Dr N Yirang spoke on the NVBDCP, the importance of taking precautions to stop the breeding of mosquitoes, and keeping one’s surroundings clean, while Dr LC Deori spoke on the NCD and “the importance of timely data update.” (DIPRO)
