APYC observes ‘Nat’l Unemployment Day’

NAHARLAGUN, 18 Sep: The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) observed 17 September as ‘National Unemployment Day’ here to “demonstrate the frustration of unemployment youths.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of two crore jobs every year has not been met, and the youths observed the birthday of the PM with this programme to remind him that the country’s unemployment rate is at the worst state,” the APYC stated in a release.

“Many educated youths are committing suicide, indulging in illegal activities, drug addiction, etc. The educated youths of the state are facing no less frustration,” it said, adding that “every year, thousands of youths complete their education but the state government fails to meet their demand for employment.”

A few vacancies are advertised, but they are marred by corruption, paper leakage and bribery, it said, and added that the BJP government at the Centre and in the state need to address the growing unemployment among the youths.
