DOIMUKH, 27 Sep: A two-day self-defence programme organised by the Papum Pare police concluded at the government higher secondary school (GHSS) here on Tuesday.
Forty-seven girls of Classes 8 and 9 from GHSS Mani, the middle school in RGU, and GHSS Doimukh participated in the programme.
Four taekwondo black belt masters from the Nirjuli Karate Club imparted the training.
The Papum Pare police initiated the programme under the guidance of the DGP, with the aim of helping schoolgirls build self-confidence and overcome fear by acquiring basic martial arts skills.
The programme was coordinated by Papum Pare SDPO Maga Tago, Inspector Millo Sumpi and ASI Sanjiv Chetry, under the supervision of SP Neelam Nega.
