Workshop on good governance held

ROING, 22 Dec: A district-level ‘dissemination workshop on good governance’ was organised here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Thursday as part of the Good Governance Week.

Retired state government officer Bilatee Pertin, attending the workshop, said that “good governance is measured in terms of accessibility of the government to the public and percolation of welfare benefits to the masses, to the last man standing.”

He further said that, “although good governance is elusive, it is a part of each individual as its stakeholder.”

Pertin advised government officials to be “accessible to the public, punctual and diligent in their work, and maintain credibility at all costs.”

He also launched the district portal of scheme beneficiary details, http://ldvbeneficiary.nic.in.

The portal is an effort of the district administration and the NIC to voluntarily disclose data on scheme beneficiary details at the zilla and gram panchayat levels.

Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh advised all the HoDs to be “responsive and sensitive to the public visiting the office.”

Officers attending the workshop shared their experiences. (DIPRO)
