As expected, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while replying to a debate on the motion of thanks to the president’s address in both the Houses of Parliament, did not respond to the serious allegation raised against him by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was protecting industrialist Gautam Adani. In his remarks in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi alleged that the meteoric rise in Gautam Adani’s fortunes happened after the BJP came to power in 2014 and he rose from the 609th to the second spot in the global rich list.
Adani and his business have come under scrutiny ever since the Hindenburg Research report, which has made a slew of allegations against the business conglomerate, came into public domain. Besides Gandhi, other opposition leaders also raised questions on the same subject. Instead of responding to serious allegations of alleged nexus between Adani and himself, the PM was seen mocking opposition parties. It is becoming his usual tactic not to respond to questions raised by opposition on the floor of the Parliament. Modi seems to have utter disregard for Parliament. The nature of the allegation is very serious. The PM should at least respect the Parliament and respond to the questions raised by the opposition on the floor of the Houses.
