Youths benefit from skill mela

PASIGHAT, 11 Feb: Over 30 unemployed and unskilled youths participated in the East Siang District Industries Centre’s (DIC) annual ‘Skill mela-cum-awareness rally’ here on Friday.

The annual programme is aimed at creating awareness among the unemployed and unskilled youths and school and college dropouts about various trades and sectors.

Addressing the participants, Industries Deputy Director Matsam Jamoh said that “the mela has been brought up with the objective to provide skill development training to the unskilled unemployed youths as a great source of empowerment.”

“It will not only provide them skills to make a living but also give them a sense of confidence and self-esteem,” he said, and added that “the DIC will provide training and resources to the youths in order to secure their future.”

Pasighat SBI LDM P Basumatari apprised the participants of the benefits of skill development. “Skilled and talented human resource is needed to thrive in today’s world,” he said.

Vocational training provider from Assam-based Valeur Fobex Pvt Ltd, Prince Chiring, spoke about “the trades and sectors” offered by his institute, and urged the participants to submit their basic data for enrollment.

Among others, ADTH Libang Perme, AEO (Labour & Employment) Omey Taggu, EI Hunti Koyu, and EO U Prasad attended the programme. (DIPRO)
