DAPORIJO, 12 Oct: The alumni association of the government higher secondary school (GHSS) here in Upper Subansiri district mourned the passing away of former undivided Sigin block ZPM Pugo Batak.
Batak passed away aged 75 in Pakam Colony here 9 October. He was the son of late Dapu Batak and Japu Raji Batak, of Jeram village in undivided Sigin block.
A former student of the GHSS here, Batak had contributed a lot in the growth of the school as its general secretary in 1971. He had also served as a UDC in the supply & transport department in Shillong in 1976, before entering into politics.
He was elected unopposed twice as ZPM on the People’s Party of Arunachal ticket.
A renowned social worker, Batak was one of the pioneers of the Si-Donyi festival of the Tagin community.
The alumni association’s chairman Dosh Dasi said that Batak’s contribution towards the growth of the school would always be remembered.
Dasi, on behalf of the former students of the school, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
