KANUBARI, 7 Dec: The Longding KVK participated in an exhibition organised in connection with ‘Assam Diwas’ at Tingkhong (Assam) from 2-6 December, under the aegis of Guwahati-based ATARI Zone-VI, in collaboration with the Dhemaji KVK.
The exhibition featured display of varieties of products and technologies for farmers to improve the productivity of their crops, fruits and vegetables, apart from livestock and value-added products.
The Longding team, led by KVK Head Dr Utpal Kumar Bhattacharyya and ACTO (Agronomy) A Kirankumar Singh, displayed 13 different landraces of foxtail millet, five landraces of colocasia, two varieties of squash, two indigenous fruits (pai and baa), elephant bean, and flat bean, besides different varieties of rice, maize, oilseeds, pulses, etc.
“The main attraction of the exhibits was colocasia, mainly tonglo (local name), and millets of different types of panicles with varied colours,” the KVK informed in a release.
“Over and above, flexes on natural farming and its components and soil health cards were also displayed for the farmers,” it said.
