NAMSAI, 16 Dec: Itanagar-based NABARD Regional Office General Manager Damodar Mishra on Saturday inaugurated two rural haats (permanent market sheds) in Alubari and Medo in Namsai and Lohit district, respectively.
The rural haats have been established on prime locations along the national highway, with financial support from the NABARD.
Mishra expressed happiness over the completion of the projects, and said that he envisions a future “where the farmers will embrace commercial agriculture, taking advantage of various government-sponsored schemes.”
DDM Kamal Roy said that “the initiative is aimed at alleviating marketing challenges faced by local farmers, vegetable growers, and women SHGs,” while DDM Nitya Mili said that the haats would provide “a secure platform, eliminate marketing hurdles, and promote fresh and organic produces, benefitting both the farmers and the consumers.”
Among others, Chongkham CO Kenge Loya, NOSAAP CEO Chau Athina Chauhai, and ArSRLM BMM Yoshoda Moungkang also spoke.
