PASIGHAT, 16 Feb: Altogether 120 farmers from different districts of the state, besides faculty members, students and other stakeholders are participating in a two-day workshop on ‘Impact of mobile-based agro advisory (M4-Agri-Digital India)’, which began at the social science department of the College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF) here in East Siang district on Friday.
During the workshop, ICSSR project head Dr Lakshmi Dhar Hatai highlighted the “socioeconomic characteristics of farmers under mobile-based agro-advisory; extent of information, utilisation and knowledge gained by the farmers; and impact of mobile-based digital platform in empowerment of farmers of Arunachal Pradesh by providing farm advisory services at the right time for enhancing farm productivity, income and sustainable livelihood,” the college informed in a release.
Prof SK Pattanaaik presented an overview of the Arik Abik Lunom (m4 agri in AR) project of the Digital India Corporation, while Social Science Professor Dr BR Phukan spoke on “the role of mobile phones for marketing opportunities and entrepreneurship development in agricultural enterprises,” the release said.
Social Science Assistant Professor Dr Anju Choudhury spoke on e-governance in relation to agriculture, it said.
