GUWAHATI, 21 Feb: Under Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiative, the Assam Raj Bhavan here, in collaboration with Arunachal Bhawan, celebrated the 38th Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh at the GMCH auditorium, Bhangagarh on Tuesday.
Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, his wife Anita Kataria, Assam power minister Nandita Garlosa and tea tribes and labour welfare minister Sanjoy Kishan paid floral tribute to the portraits of Arunachal state icons late Chow Khamoon Gohain (Namshum), late Daying Ering, late Dorjee Khandu, late Lummer Dai and late Jomin Tayeng.
A colourful cultural programme was organized wherein traditional Yak dance, Peacock dance, Aji Lhamu dance, etc. were performed by Mon Kalaktang Cultural Preservation Society, West Kameng district and Tai Khamti Heritage and Literature Society, Namsai.
Other attraction of the celebration was exhibition-cum-sale emporium of textile and handicraft of Arunachal Pradesh which was put up at the ceremonial venue.
Large LED screens were installed at ethnic food court and at entrance of the celebration venue for displaying various video documentaries on loop about Arunachal tourism and rich diverse culture of the state.
Secretary to Governor Swapna Dutta Deka, addl resident commission, GoAP Dr. Dilip Kumar Chutia, former principal chief commissioner (IT) Raju Tayeng, NEDFi GM Lemli Loyi and a number of senior Assam government officials attended the celebration. All Arunachal government employees and Arunachalee people including students residing in Guwahati were also invited to join the Arunachal Pradesh statehood day celebration, according to an official release.
