MIAO, 21 Feb: Lucky 11 Kharsang won the Namdapha Cricket Cup, defeating Bordumsa Brothers Cricket Club by 50 runs in the final of the month-long cricket tournament played under floodlight at Miao general ground in Changlang district on the eve of the 38th Statehood Day.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. one lakh while, the runner-up was given Rs. 50, 000 along with a trophy.
Earlier, Lucky 11 Kharsang batted first and scored 133 runs.
Uttam Patwari of Lucky 11 Kharsang, who claimed three crucial wickets and contributed 11 runs with the bat, was declared ‘Man of the Match.’
All-rounder Rajat Khan of Lucky 11 Kharsang was adjudged ‘Man of the Series’ for grabbing 13 wickets and scoring 164 runs in the tournament.
The best disciplined team award went to Miao Cricket Federation.
Twenty-seven teams participated in the limited over cricket tournament, which started on the eve of the Republic Day.
Local MLA & minister Kamlung Mossang sponsored the event, while Namdapha National Park & Tiger Reserve gifted the trophies.
ADC R.D Thungon and Miao ZPM Asamto Tikhak came to the rescue of the organizers by providing financial assistance at the eleventh hour.
Miao Mandal president Pisi Suriya Singpho (Zauring) and Miao Bazaar secretary Jowong Tingwa gave away the trophies and prizes to the winning team, the runners-up and the individual prize winners.
Conveying the message of minister Kamlung Mossang, the Mandal president re-iterated commitment to encourage sporting events in Miao subdivision for the benefit of the local youths.
