ITANAGAR, 19 Jul: ‘Arun Amrit’, a locally manufactured biofertiliser, was showcased during the eighth Legislative Assembly (LA) session in the Assembly complex by the agriculture department on Friday.
Arun Amrit, as part of the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, is being manufactured in Ziro (L/Subansiri) since 2022.
The production was funded under the RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme of the Centre, which aims at increasing farmers’ income with a sustainable approach in the farming system.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Speaker Tesam Pongte and a host of ministers and MLAs visited the stall and showed immense interest in the local product.
The CM commended the department for successful commissioning of the biofertiliser and asked it to “continue quality production for the benefit of the farmers.”
Packets of the biofertiliser, along with the instructional manual, were distributed to the visitors.
The promotional stall of Arun Amrit was initiated by Agriculture & Allied Sectors Minister Gabriel D Wangsu, in collaboration with the Lower Subansiri district administration and the agriculture department.
The biofertiliser production unit in Ziro has an installed capacity of 500MT annually that meets the state’s requirement and has the potential to be supplied to neighbouring states as well. (DIPR)
