NABARD conducts workshop on GoI scheme

ITANAGAR, 7 Mar: The Arunachal Pradesh regional office (RO) of the NABARD organised a state-level sensitisation workshop here on Friday to create awareness on the Agri Clinic and Agri Business Centre (ACABC) scheme of the Government of India (GoI).

“The credit-linked back-ended subsidy scheme of the GoI is being implemented with the objective of supporting agricultural graduates in taking up activities in agricultural extension,” the RO informed in a release.

The workshop was attended by the SLBC convener, representatives of banks, officials from the agriculture and horticulture departments, academicians, including professors from RGU, the NERIST, etc, a few agripreneurs, and students.

NABARD RO GM D Mishra in his inaugural address stressed on the significance of the ACABC scheme. “The scheme has a twin objective of providing extension services and providing self-employment opportunity to agri-graduates,” he said, and urged the stakeholders to “mobilise proposals under the scheme.”

He said that “the state offers good potential for coverage activities in the allied sector and also in agri-tourism,” and impressed upon the stakeholders to play a greater role “for coordination and creation of awareness, so that the target beneficiaries can avail benefits under the scheme.”

A representative from Hyderabad (Telanganga)-based MANAGE provided training to potential agripreneurs.

NABARD officials also delivered presentations on various schemes like e-Negotiable Warehouse Receipt (e-NWR), e-Kisan Upaj Nidhi yojana (e-KUN), e-KCC, Agri UDAN and the PM Internship Scheme.

Progress under the PMFME scheme was also reviewed jointly by officials of the industries department and the NABARD.
