LIKABALI, 17 Mar: The Lower Siang District Planning Committee (DPC) convened a meeting for finalising the ZPDP and the GPDP for the 2025-26 financial year, here on Monday.
The member secretaries concerned delivered presentations on the proposals to be taken up in the upcoming financial year. The proposals were examined and discussed, and later the genuine ones were adopted and approved.
The meeting, which was attended by ZPC Marpe Nguba, ZPMs, and officers and officials of the Panchayat Department, was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Rujjum Rakshap.
The DC in his address instructed the member secretaries to “have firsthand information about the proposals put up by the gram sabhas, so that the chances of fictitious and overlapping proposals being taken up can be ruled out before the final approval.”
He also advised the officers concerned to “involve the line departments concerned at the time of finalisation of proposals, and also at the time of their execution to ensure optimum benefits out of the projects.”
The ZPC emphasised on taking up need-based schemes under the panchayats, and advocated putting in place “a functional mechanism for proper monitoring of the schemes to rule out scope of unproductive ventures.”
