The Education Department is reported to have taken several decisions regarding the transfer and posting of teachers. The department, which is struggling to implement its own mass transfer order, has set an ambitious 15-day deadline to effect the posting and transfer of teachers, while also making provisions for other staffers.
Some of the decisions taken include teachers appointed as BRC/CRC and BEOs being required to take classes in nearby schools. Headmasters, vice principals, PGTs, and TGTs currently attached to the offices of the DSE, DEE, and ISSE will be transferred to schools in districts within 15 days. The department will also post PGTs and TGTs attached to DDSE offices back to schools within the same time period.
Additionally, the Education Department has decided to hold fresh interviews for a new batch of SPCs/SPOs based on their skills and competencies.
The government’s decision comes after demands raised by the ANSU.
While it may seem like an uphill task, as the department is known to be run by a powerful and connected group of mid-level employees, it remains to be seen whether these sweeping decisions will be implemented or, as has happened in the past, remain mere assurances.
