Editor,
I wish to express the growing disillusionment among the people of Arunachal Pradesh regarding the repeated assurances of ‘zero tolerance’ proclaimed by our state government on every issue that surfaces. While such declarations may sound resolute, the reality on the ground tells a very different story.
The ongoing Sarli-Lada Frontier Road issue and the recent sexual assault case have once again exposed administrative lapses and systemic inefficiency. Not long ago, the APPSCCE fiasco had already shaken public confidence in the integrity of state institutions. Despite these recurring challenges, the government continues to echo the same promises of zero tolerance – a phrase that now rings hollow in the absence of visible, decisive action.
The people of Arunachal deserve more than comforting rhetoric. They seek accountability, transparency, and visionary leadership capable of transforming the state into a truly vibrant and progressive region. Citizens are weary of grand assurances and political speeches that rarely translate into concrete change.
Equally concerning is the silence of the opposition, which appears content to remain a passive observer, surfacing only during election seasons. A healthy democracy thrives not only on governance but also on a strong and responsible opposition that ensures checks and balances.
Arunachal stands at a defining juncture. What the state needs today is not another statement of zero tolerance, but zero complacency, zero corruption, and zero negligence, backed by genuine intent, action, and visionary leadership.
