ITANAGAR, 15 Jan: State-level workshops on the Career Guide Book and ‘My Career Advisor’ mobile application was conducted on 13 and 15 January at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) here, with the objective of strengthening career guidance and counselling support for students across the state.
The workshop was organised to familiarise vocational education teachers and education stakeholders with the newly developed Career Guide Book and My Career Advisor app, which are designed to help students make informed decisions about their academic and career pathways. The programme focused on enhancing awareness about diverse career options, skill requirements, and future opportunities aligned with students’ interests and abilities.
Resource persons from the SCERT, Suman Das from the UNICEF, Karnal Santosh Kumar from Wadhwani Foundation, and Dr Pinki Khanna and Prof Pankaj Mehta from PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal conducted comprehensive sessions on the structure and utility of the Career Guide Book, implementation of ’10 bagless days’, My Career Advisor app, and recommendations of the NEP-2020 and the NCFSE-2023 with respect to vocational education.
A live demonstration of My Career Advisor app was presented by Prof Pankaj Mehta, PSSCIVE, Bhopal, showcasing its features, such as career assessments, guidance modules, and easy accessibility for students and educators.
State vocational education project coordinator Nabam Shelly highlighted the status of skill education in the government schools of the state, and encouraged the participants to impart their duties with dedication and zeal.
SCERT Deputy Director DY Ringu said that the initiative aims to empower teachers to act as career mentors/counsellors and guide students effectively, especially at the secondary and higher secondary stages.
The interactive sessions allowed participants to clarify doubts, share experiences, and discuss strategies for integrating career guidance into regular teaching-learning process.
The participants appreciated the initiative and expressed confidence that the Career Guide Book and My Career Advisor app would serve as valuable tools in supporting students to make well-informed career decisions. (DIPR)
