The state cabinet has bestowed a special development package on Anini under the Cabinet Aapke Dwar initiative. The border town, which hosted the latest cabinet sitting, received approval for 11 projects.

The package includes a high-altitude medicinal plant research centre, a high-altitude trout hatchery, an advanced landing ground, and the resurfacing of three roads.

Border areas need all-round attention from the state. Anini, which is poised to become one of the major tourist destinations in the state, must be provided with the required facilities.

Along with improvements in connectivity, the health and education sectors need adequate attention. There is also a need for special incentives for the youths of the area to create self-employment opportunities, particularly in the tourism sector.

The sector has immense potential, as nature has endowed the region with incomparable beauty. These issues should be addressed with urgency, alongside sustained infrastructure development in the ecologically sensitive area.
