DAPORIJO, 26 Mar: A sensitisation programme on topics like the drug menace, the POCSO Act, school disaster management, Tagin language, and effective school administration was organised for the heads of government schools of Limeking, Nacho and Giba education blocks in Upper Subansiri district at the government upper primary school (GUPS) here on Wednesday.

During the programme, DDMO Ronya Marbam suggested to all schools to prepare school disaster management plans and get approval from the police and the district disaster management authority. The DDMO also suggested conducting mock drills at schools.

Sub-inspector and Daporijo Anti-Drug Squad in-charge Jomo Natung presented data of drug cases in the district and highlighted the involvement of teenagers in such cases.

District Child Protection Unit Protection Officer TJ Natam spoke about the child adoption process and the POCSO Act.

Tagin Language Research & Development Society chairman Lardik Kare highlighted the need to preserve the Tagin language, and urged the people to speak their local dialect in order to preserve it for future generations.

BEO Take Lusi Sorum, and Dogi Nalo GUPS Headmaster (i/c) Panam Duku also spoke.
