LIKABALI, 26 Mar: Lower Siang district celebrated the 150th anniversary of the national song, Vande Mataram, on Thursday at the freedom fighters’ commemorative high-mast national flag podium, built in honour of freedom fighter Moje Riba, in Dipa village.
The programme was organised jointly by the department of information & public relations and the district art & culture office, under the guidance of the Lower Siang district administration.
Addressing the gathering, Likabali ZPM Karbi Nyodu Taipodia urged citizens, especially the youths, to uphold the values of nationalism and actively contribute towards nation-building.
She further appealed to all parents to ensure that their children learn the national song, stressing that it should be accorded the same respect and importance as the national anthem.
District Art and Culture Officer Augusti Jamoh highlighted the historical significance of Vande Mataram and its pivotal role in inspiring India’s freedom movement.
He emphasised the importance of fostering patriotism, unity, and a deeper understanding of the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
Gaon buras, panchayat members, and villagers attended the programme. All the participants paid homage to freedom fighter Moje Riba and took a pledge to strengthen unity, integrity, and harmony in society. (DIPRO)
