ITANAGAR, May 30: One person has tested positive for COVID-19 taking the total to three in the state. The person from Upper Siang is reported to be asymptomatic and doing well. The person has returned to the state from Dehradun recently and reported to be a 12-year-old student.
This is the third case within a span of one week.
So far the state has reported total of four cases since the first one was detected in Lohit district in early April. The person recovered and was released from hospital on April 16. He had travelled to Delhi.
All the four including the one who recovered had come back to the state from elsewhere in the country.
The second returned from Delhi to Pakke Kessang while the third to Itanagar from Chennai.
Meanwhile, the state health department said that a batch of 260 samples will be sent to Delhi for testing on Sunday. The samples are being outsourced to Dr. Lal PathLabs in Delhi at a cost of Rs. 3200 per sample. The state government had decided to outsource testing to clear the backlogs in the labs.
Backlog of 1334 samples remain of the total 8016 collected. On Saturday 526 samples were collected.
