ITANAGAR, Dec 21: Air Marshal Anil Khosla, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Air Command, called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday, along with his senior officials.
The meeting, which Chief Secretary Satya Gopal also attended, discussed matters related to strengthening the presence of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the state.
The chief minister assured his support for the Indian defence forces, and during the discussion with the IAF officials explored possibilities for construction of advanced landing grounds (ALG) in Vijoynagar and Tawang for operation of fixed-wing aircraft.
Pema said Arunachal is making improvement in air connectivity, and informed that an airport for the state capital has been cleared by the DGCA, with Hollongi as its site. He also informed that work on the state’s first civilian airport in Tezu is at the completion stage.
The chief minister expressed gratitude to the IAF for allowing dual use of the ALGs, saying it is of great help to the people of the state.
He sought the IAF’s cooperation, especially during natural calamities. The CM also sought the IAF’s support in matters related to the interstate boundary issue with Assam. (PRO)
