ITANAGAR, Jan 4: Following the issuing of the first draft list under the National Register of Citizens (NRC), the government of Arunachal Pradesh has taken all the preventive measures to prevent possible spillover of illegal migrants to the state.
The Chief Minister’s Office informed this in a press communiqué.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday spoke to the DGP and sought information on the status of the border areas in the aftermath of the NRC effect in neighbouring Assam.
He directed the DGP to keep strict vigil along the border outposts to check entrance of illegal immigrants.
Assuring that the situation is normal in the state, the DGP informed the CM that the SPs of all border districts have been alerted and directed to liaise with their Assam counterparts.
He said the situation is under control in Assam, and there is no problem on the NRC issue in general, especially in the districts sharing boundaries with Assam. (CMO)
