CHANGLANG, Jan 10: A wildlife awareness campaign was organized by the Tangsa and Tutsa People’s Organization (TTPO) here on Wednesday.
During the campaign, Changlang District Forest Officer, P Tangha emphasized on the need to create intensive awareness amongst the villagers on Wild Life Act, 1972 in order to prevent mass wildlife hunting in the subdivision.
He also assured all possible support from the department to the organization in carrying out similar campaigns in the subdivision.
Also, TTPO General Secretary, Phosam Zongsam and Publicity Secretary, Maihu Mamai submitted a representation to the department of Environment & Forest seeking regular patrolling by forest officials, checking sale of wild meat in the market and prompt action against those involved as per the law.
Later in the day, members of the organization erected hoardings with messages of ‘No Hunting of wildlife’ at various locations.
