ITANAGAR, 12 May: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) expressed grief over the untimely demise of former minister Jotom Toko Takam on Wednesday and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
The NES termed Takam’s death as an irreparable loss for the Nyishi community in particular and the state as a whole.
“He was a soft-spoken and kind-hearted person and his passing away has created a huge vacuum in the society,” NES president Bengia Tolum said in a condolence message to late Takam’s son, Toko Teji.
During his tenure as an MLA and a minister, he took up various developmental initiatives, especially in the field of health, education and road communication in Yachuli assembly constituency, Tolum said.
“As an active social worker and leader, he made every effort to uplift the downtrodden. He was a true soldier of the community and the state,” Tolum said while recalling his association with the former minister in all social programmes and functions.
The NES prayed to the almighty to grant peace and rest to the departed soul.
Lower Subansiri Zilla Parishad Chairperson Likha Sangchhore has also deeply mourned the passing away of Takam.
“I am deeply shocked and grieved to hear about the sudden demise of Takam,” Sangchhore said.
“He was a political stalwart of Yachuli constituency and his death is a great loss not only for the people of the constituency but the entire state,” she said.
“My thoughts and prayers are with you during this tragic moment,” she said while conveying condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
