ITANAGAR, 21 May: Power supply through the Pasighat-Roing 132 kv transmission line could not be restored immediately as one of the conductors of the transmission line was ‘swept away’ by river water.
“The incident happened when the floodwater caused the conductor to fall into the river’s current from the motorboat used for sagging conductor to rest on, while the other loose end of the conductor was being shifted from the endangered ERS to the new ERS,” said State SLDC Head Nangkong Perme in a release.
Stating that the restoration work can be resumed only when rainfall and the river water recede, Perme requested the DCs, DMOs and the power department authorities of Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit and Namsai districts to continue with the contingency plans for uninterrupted supply of electricity to the hospitals, Covid care centres and oxygen plants.
However, power supply to the affected districts will partially be maintained through the Rupai-Namsai 33 kv interstate transmission line during this period, he said.
Perme expressed regret over not being able to withdraw the second phase of the shutdown, as notified earlier, due to the unexpected incident.
