ITANAGAR, 2 Jun: A video of Itanagar Capital Region Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom berating a doctor at a vaccination centre has surfaced on social media.
Potom, who was recently inducted into the Indian Administrative Service and made the deputy commissioner of ICR scolded a medical officer at the urban primary health centre here after a couple was turned away from the centre for not registering online.
The doctor in the video is seen clarifying that she was not aware of the new guidelines which allowed walk-in registration but that did not stop the DC from humiliating the doctor.
Sources informed that the DC’s remark on the medical officer has created discontentment among the doctors and the health workers who are working round the clock on Covid-19 duty.
“Scolding a doctor in front of the media and public, when she clearly said she didn’t know the new guideline is very demoralising and disappointing,” said a senior doctor.
Another health worker said, “blaming our health department for last-minute changes in decision to cover 25,000 doses in three days is really uncalled for and such irrational orders will lead to a mad rush for vaccination and high chances of virus transmission.”
This daily could not get a reaction from the Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom, but he reportedly apologized to the health department’s principal secretary after being called out.
