CM encourages youths to preserve mother tongues
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: The 5th state conference of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) was declared open by Chief Minister Pema Khandu at the Hangpan Dada Sabagarh here on Friday.
The conference saw the participation of more than 500 students from various districts.
Addressing the first day of the three-day conference, Pema lauded the contribution of the ABVP in nation-building.
The chief minister advised the students to preserve their mother tongues and to always speak in their own native dialects.
“Language helps preserve our culture, as it is the best medium to understand one’s own culture, tradition, folklores and history,” he said.
He informed the students about various policies initiated by the state government for youth empowerment, skill development, and employment.
The CM urged the organizers to conduct the conference at the district level, and to increase its membership drive.
He lauded the ABVP for launching the innovative project – Students’ Experience in Interstate Living (SEIL)
which aims at overcoming the challenge of alienation among students of the Northeast by organizing cultural exchanges and tours to various parts of India.
Pema also recalled the contribution of Nagaland Governor PB Acharya, who during his early days undertook the mission for integrating the people of the Northeast with the rest of the country.
Earlier, the chief minister felicitated social worker Anong Jongkey for his contribution in building a better society.
Organizing Committee Chairman Tana Nikam Tara and Secretary Nyanya Gollo also addressed the gathering.
