KHONSA, Jan 22: The students of Government Secondary School Pinewood here were informed about the ill-effects of tobacco consumption during an awareness programme conducted by the Tirap District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) on Monday.
A team of experts from the DTCC, under the supervision of DPO Dr P Rakshit, informed the students of the consequences of using tobacco on one’s health and on the society.
Consultant Nijali Tacho highlighted the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act and the establishment of the DTCC here, while Tai Bai made a PowerPoint presentation on the ill-effects of tobacco consumption.
This was followed by a counselling session by psychologist Nabam Kenyum, before the programme concluded with a ‘No smoking’ pledge.
