ITANAGAR, Jan 25: Youth Affairs Director DK Dinglow on Thursday welcomed state rafters Anand Teksing and Tajum Tair on their return after participating in the first ever Indo-Bhutan Army Joint Rafting Expedition.
Organised by the Dirang-based National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS), the expedition was held in the Kameng river in East Kameng district from 13-24 January.
Both the rafters were trained at the NIMAS under the sponsorship of the youth affairs directorate. The directorate has said it will organise more rafting expeditions in collaboration with Nepal and other countries.
To generate self employment for the youths, the Youth Affairs department said it will provide rafts to trained young rafters, so that they may earn their livelihood by levying charges on rafters coming from various parts of the country and abroad.
