LATHAO, Jan 25: An awareness campaign on flagship programmes for farmers’ welfare was conducted here in Namsai district by the Field Publicity directorate on Wednesday.
The programme began with a rally which saw the participation of students, teachers, government employees, panchayat members, farmers, NGO representatives, and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Namsai ADO NA Manchey explained the techniques and methods of modern cultivation, and the use of improved variety of seeds and pesticides. She also explained to the farmers the importance of soil health cards.
School principal Tasen Ete advised the farmers to avoid primitive ways of cultivation, and urged them to seek advice from the Agriculture department from time to time.
State BJP President Tapir Gao also attended the programme.
