PASIGHAT, Jan 25: The Environment and Forest and Climate Change department (EFCC) dedicated a ‘Green Park’ to the denizens of Pasighat near the main market area here on Friday under the ‘Green Park Adoption Programme’.
‘This was done to promote, secure and for orderly development of Pasighat as a smart city,’ reports DIPRO.
The EFCC, with the collaboration of the Pasighat Market Association (PMA) has developed the area and constructed an iron fencing around the land designated for a park; planted horticultural plants and constructed a pillar of the longest serving president of the PMA, late Onyok Tamuk.
Pasighat Forest Range Officer, Jumgo Geyi informed that members of the PMA have assured to extend all possible help and cooperation for its development and regular maintenance.
Local leader and younger brother of late Onyok Tamuk, Oni Tamuk also extended financial assistance of Rs 1, 50, 000 to the Forest department.
Earlier, inaugurating the park, DFO Tabang Jamoh lauded Range Officer Jumgo Geyi for motivating the PMA members to bring a positive transformation to the city.
Earlier, Agriculture Parliamentary Secretary Tatung Jamoh and former minister Bosiram Siram said that the cost-sharing model for maintenance of the park was a wonderful way to transform the landscape into a healthy surrounding for everyone.
Family members of late Onyok Tamuk, members of the PMA, and host of officers and leaders were also present during the inauguration.
