ROING, Jan 27: A bicycle rally was organized as part of the Golden Jubilee Central Reh Celebration (GJCRCC) here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Friday.
Participation of professional cyclists from the United Kingdom and Indian cities like Bangalore and Indore was the main attraction of the event. The rally started from Roing and passed through Abango, Injono, Koronu, Denlo and Abali before returning to Roing, covering a total distance of 45 km.
Idu-Mishmi achievers in the field, Rubi Lombo and Ahondo Menjo, led the rally, which also saw the participation of a number of local amateur cyclists.
Deputy Commissioner Mitali Namchoom flagged off the rally in the presence of Rajya Sabha Member Mukut Mithi and MLA Mutchu Mithi.
Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Sain, members of IMCLs and the GJCRCC were also present.
The event was organised by the GJCRC Committee in collaboration with Ride to Light, an NGO that works towards providing solar lamps to villages without power connectivity. The NGO has been conducting bicycle rallies as part of their annual calendar event for the last two years in Tezu (Lohit).
