SP urges misguided youths to return to mainstream
DADAM, Feb 2: The 26th Hoju Kuhwa festival of Dadam-ja area in Tirap district was celebrated with traditional gaiety on Friday.
Attending the festival, Tirap SP Jitendra Kumar Meena appealed to misguided youths of the district to return to the mainstream to live a happy and normal life with their families. He also urged youths to stay away from drug addiction and unlawful activities.
Meena highlighted the importance of games and sports activities, and informed the gathering about the government’s job reservation for sportspersons.
The SP distributed prizes to meritorious students and sportspersons of the area, and assured the area’s youths that he would extend all possible help if any aspirant wants to undergo civil service coaching in Delhi.
ADC Techu Aran stressed on promotion of one’s mother tongue to preserve the indigenous and traditional culture.
“English and other language like Hindi and Sanskrit can be learnt from educational institutions but mother tongue needs to be taught by every parent to their children compulsorily, so as to protect, preserve and promote the traditional and indigenous culture in every society,” he said.
The ADC also apprised them of the latest government recruitment rules, wherein there will be no viva-voce for government jobs. He urged the students of the district to study harder to compete in APCS and UPSC exams.
Khonsa MLA Tirong Aboh said that festivals “showcase and commemorate our ancestral culture which was handed over to us for preservation and protection.”
He appealed to all the chiefs of Dadam area to continue the age-old traditional system.
Dadam chief Wanggo Lowang presented the mythology of Hoju Kuhwa. Organizing committee president Pentoam Kamhoa also spoke.
A cultural dance performed by the girl students of the government secondary school was one of the highlights of the celebration.
As part of the event, Khonsa (West) MLA Tirong Aboh inaugurated the entrance gate to the mini outdoor stadium here, in the presence of government officials, panchayat leaders, chiefs, GBs and others. (DIPRO)
