GUWAHATI, 12 Apr: The 8th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region Conference concluded here in Assam on 12 April.
The event, which was organised by the Assam legislative assembly, was attended by speakers, deputy speakers, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariat officials, MPs and MLAs. Arunachal Pradesh was represented by Legislative Assembly Speaker PD Sona.
Taking part in the discussion on ‘Harnessing youth energy for national development and common good’, Sona said that “youth energy is almost like nuclear energy, and, if it is positively channelled, it will be productive for the society; else it can be very dangerous for the society.”
He said that, in order to improve the quality of education in Arunachal, the state government has adopted the new education policy formulated by the central government.
The two-day conference was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on 11 April, while Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi was the chief guest of the valedictory programme.
