ITANAGAR, 27 Jun: The Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) welcomed the BJP-led NDA’s decision to choose Draupadi Murmu as the BJP-led NDA’s candidate for the upcoming presidential election.
“The BJP under the leadership of JP Nadda, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah has displayed a very bold and smart political move by naming a tribal woman as its candidate for the upcoming presidential election,” the IFCSAP said in a release.
The Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) has also welcomed the Centre’s decision to recommend Murmu as its candidate for the presidential election.
“The AVP recognises this as a historic moment of far reaching impressions pertaining to 12 crore janjatis of the country,” it stated in a release on Monday.
Speaking of Murmur, the AVP said that “she has devoted her life serving society and empowering the poor, downtrodden as well as the marginalised, (and) she has rich administrative experience and understanding of policy matters.”
“The NDA government has given an opportunity for other political parties to pronounce their commitment towards comprehensive development of tribals of the country,” it said.
