ITANAGAR, 24 Oct: Hengam Riba’s op-ed piece, ‘Participation of women in politics’, published by this daily on 22 February, has won the prestigious Ladli Media Award, awarded by Population First.
Population First, a social impact organisation, through the Laadli media advocacy initiatives focuses on promoting gender sensitivity in media and communication to build a more gender equitable society, with support from the UNFPA and Jaipur (Rajasthan)-based media advocacy organisation Lok Samvad Sansthan.
Riba’s op-ed won in the ‘English: Newspaper-editorial/pp-ed’ category.
It said that her article “demonstrates a remarkable blend of facts and opinion. It sheds light on the paradoxical nature of northeastern states, emphasising the imperative of greater women’s political engagement.”
