PAPU HILLS, 8 Dec: The Papu Hills police arrested a drug peddler, identified as Nima Tsering (32), from near the Yupia trijunction on 4 December, and seized 15 vials of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 20.3 grams, from his possession, in the presence of the Naharlagun EAC.
The arrest was made based on reliable information that Tsering was selling the drug near the Yupia trijunction.
During interrogation, the arrestee revealed that he had procured the drug from one Kalita, a resident of Laluk area in Assam.
“Accordingly, on 6 December, a team comprising Naharlagun SDPO Paul Jerang, Papu Hills PS OC Damgen Dulom, SI (P) TW Salingpa, SI (P) U Kirty, ASI PK Riram, Head Constable (HC) D Gurung, HC F Bedi, and Constables G Kipa, T Sikom, Tagrik Toni and Tasso Tagur, under the close supervision of Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo, was formed and a tactical trap was laid to track down the drug supplier,” the police informed in a release.
“As planned, the drug peddler, identified as Bitu Kalita (21), was apprehended with the help of the Assam Police from Tunijan area near Laluk town in Lakhimpur district of Assam, and recovered 20 vials containing suspected heroin weighing approximabely 22.910 gms from his possession,” the release said.
