Livelihood improvement prog

DEOMALI, 7 Mar: Forty farmers participated in a programme titled ‘Livelihood improvement through appropriate agricultural technologies’, organised here by the Tirap KVK on Thursday in hybrid mode, in collaboration with Jharkhand-based Indian Agricultural Research Institute, on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, horticulture scientist Dr Abhimanyu Chaturvedi suggested opting for improved agricultural technologies in farming for better livelihood. He spoke also about “scientific production technologies of horticultural crops in reference to Tirap district.”

IARI scientist Dr Pankaj Sinha delivered a presentation on “agripreneurial options in agriculture and allied sectors for farmers of hilly regions.” He shared different agri-based entrepreneurial modules suitable for hilly regions.

Agronomy scientist Arvind Pratap spoke on “scientific production technologies of maize,” while soil science specialist Amit Kumar Singh dwelt on vermicomposting and its use for higher productivity of crops.

Seeds of different vegetables, besides spades, small farm kits, chicks, piglets, etc, were later distributed among the participants. (DIPRO)
